As a specialist Pony Club Member Centre our Riding School is aimed predominately at young people although we do have a few bigger horses for our older clients. We have a warm friendly atmosphere here at the yard, and constantly have instructional videos playing in our reception area on our new 42” plasma screen which is a real hit with the juniors. Our Instructors are both Intermediate level Instructors or European Equivalent and have been teaching for many years. We provide Hats, Boot and relevant safety equipment. We are able to cater for young people who want to come and ride for a bit of fun or young people who are serious about progressing into professional riding/show jumping.
The Lessons
We hold pony club training sessions 6 days a week we dont generally hold group lessons with riding alone as we encourage the young people to not only learn to ride but to learn about the horses as well. Obviously for those youngsters who really don’t want to learn about horse care and stable management we do offer one to one and semi private riding lessons. We often hold pony club days during school holidays where kids are given an opportunity not only to ride but also to learn horse care & play gymkhana games. If your children are horse-mad, why don’t you treat them to a special Birthday Party with lots of riding activities. For those riders who are more advanced we prepared a range of different activities and lessons that will fully prepare them to start competing.
How Are We Different?
Our lessons are always conducted by Instructors who are at least 2nd Year Equine Studies Students or BHS Stage 3 and above; you would usually pay a premium to receive instruction at this level. We work with Sparsholt College who provide us with excellent vocational candidates.
WE DO NOT USE ANY MORE THAN 5 PONIES IN A LESSON at any one time; we hear stories of schools using up to 15…..yes, 15 Horses in a group!! We do not believe that you or your child can progress at a suitable rate when there are 14 other students to consider. Everyone needs a certain amount of one to one attention especially in Horse Riding, in a group this size during a 30min lesson you or your child will only receive around 2 minutes of individual attention.
LillyWhites are members of the Official “Pony Club” which means that you or your child’s achievements can lead to nationally recognised qualifications.
We do not use typical Riding School Horses that follow each other round in a circle like machines, instead when we buy our horses we favour horses with a bit of character and enthusiasm. A good proportion of our students who train up to advanced level end up competing on our ponies against other schools in local shows.
We know all of our student’s names and a little bit about them all. We pride ourselves on our personal service and attention to detail.
We have a small snack bar which serves hot and cold food and refreshments all day.
